BET is giving the green light to Teairra Mari’s video for “Sponsor.”
The network briefly kept “Sponsor” from its airwaves over claims that it glorified being a gold-digger. In the video, Teairra goes on a shopping spree with a black credit card, presumably supplied by Soulja Boy. However the end of “Sponsor” clearly shows that the card belongs to her.
News of the unofficial ban quickly circulated, drawing heat from BET viewers who felt that the network was imposing a double standard on female artists.
Now, TheYBF.com reports that BET seems to be playing nice as it has invited Teairra on “106 & Park” to formally introduce the video to air. Artists usually premiere their videos as soon as the tape leaves the editing room, but “Sponsor” has been out for at least a couple weeks.
There’s no word on whether Teairra will accept BET’s offer at this time.
