Todd Bridges sat down with Oprah Winfrey this afternoon to talk about his darkest days.
He went on the show to talk about his new book Killing Wills, which covers the painful topic of his own sexual abuse at the hands of a pedophile during his time on “Diff’rent Strokes.” Todd, now 44 years old, struggled to recount the experience, detailed in his memoir.
The actor also took cameras to the spots where he used to deal drugs, Todd was shocked to discover that one phone booth where he would sell narcotics was still standing.
Killing Willis starts off with a passage about how close Todd came to killing himself when police cornered him after picking up some product for a girl he was involved with. Check out that excerpt from the book here.
Ultimately, Todd was able to get himself off drugs and get back on the right path. The actor-turned-author told O that he’s been clean for 17 years, and he thanked his mother, who was in the audience, for helping to get him straightened out.
