It’s official: Kelly Rowland has landed a new record deal with Universal Motown
.

Congratulations are in order for the former Destiny ‘s Child member; Universal label head Sylvia Rhone announced that Kelly has just become part of their family.

“They have really embraced me and have set me up to succeed,” Kelly said of her new label home. “I decided, after careful thought, to sign with Universal Motown not only because of their track record of success, but also because they truly put their artists first.”

“I think Kelly is an immensely talented, gracious and beautiful woman, and I am thrilled about the opportunity to work with her on what’s turning out to be an amazing album,” Sylvia added. “For an artist whose career began as a member of a landmark group like Destiny’s Child, Kelly has truly come into her own and I am deeply inspired by her incredible energy.”

Despite setbacks in her career, like being dropped from Columbia Records, Kelly has kept rolling. Most recently, she enjoyed lots of success with her breakout David Guetta collaboration, “When Love Takes Over.” She teamed up with David again for her current single “Commander,” which you can check out below.
