Halle Berry and ex-beau Gabriel Aubry have begun a custody battle over their daughter, Nahla.
Up until now, the pair has kept their breakup fairly civil, opting to split parental time through a series of short-tem custody agreements. Now, Gabriel wants Nahla to live with him.
A tipster told RadarOnline.com that the male model recently began rethinking the current setup when Halle booked a movie that would have her shooting in South Africa for three months.
“It’s been pretty difficult for Gabriel to see Nahla the last few weeks,” a source close to the situation said. “He’s really getting sick of it and it’s getting to the point where he is seriously considering his options regarding pursuing permanent custody.“
Halle and Gabriel currently have joint custody of Nahla, but she spends more time with her mother. When Gabriel found out Halle had plans to bring Nahla with her to South Africa, that was the last straw.
“That would mean Gabriel not seeing his daughter for three whole months and there’s no way he’s going to allow that,” the insider said. “He refuses to give up rights to his daughter; he loves her more than anything and is determined to be a regular, full-time fixture in her life.”
Reportedly, a temporary solution has been reached. Halle will pay Gabriel to come to South Africa as Nahla’s full-time caregiver. She’s also renting out a house, and the two will try to peacefully cohabitate for Nahla’s sake.
