Toya Carter is trying her hand at rapping, and her ex-hubby Lil’ Wayne seems to think that’s funny.
Toya recent split 16 bars in a remix of “Bedrock” that was all about Georgia peach power. The track also featured Atlanta artists Kandi, Rasheeda, Diamond and Lola Monroe, who you might know better as video vixen Angel Lola Luv.
"[Wayne] laughed at me [on the "BedRock remix"],” Toya told Vibe.com. “That’s what men do. They’re never going to tell you you’re good or to keep going with it. You know their slick side."
While Weezy laughs, others are asking the “Tiny and Toya” stare for a encore.
"It’s crazy,” said Toya, “now that I did a little bit of that song everybody’s been coming to me like, ‘Oh can we hear something else? Your accent is so cute. You sound so cute rapping.’ I’m like, ‘Wow.’"
It took a lot for Toya to try her hand at hip-hop. She acknowledged that people would probably take her artistic expressions the wrong way, accusing her of following in her ex-hubby’s footsteps. Not so, according to her.
"I always had a little urge to rap, but never really wanted to because sometimes it doesn’t come off lady like,” Toya said. You can be the judge when you check out the video for “Bedrock (remix)” below.
