Method Man and Redman are issuing a challenge to all you fledgling lyricists. Are you up to the challenge?

The iconic hip-hop artists are promoting Def Jam Rap Star, the label’s newest video game, which hits store October 5. Make no mistake: Meth and Red had to work hard to get to where they are now, and they’re not handing out passes to the big time.

In Def Jam Rap Star, players have to do their very best to keep up with the flow of hip-hop’s biggest hits. The better you do, the more respect you get. What we like about the game is that it offers a freestyle mode that lets players spit bars of their own over beats crafted by world-famous producers.

And did we mention you can shoot your own music videos?

Meth and Red’s endorsement is a departure from how Def Jam had been promoting its karaoke game. Up until now the label featured up-and-coming artists, like Pill and Esso, to inspire other aspiring rappers.
