The BET Awards stage was the launch of three huge comebacks in the music industry: Kanye West, Chris Brown and T.I.
Kanye kicked off the show with a monumental performance of “Power.” It’s been a turbulent year for ‘Ye, who decided to take a break from music after his onstage outburst at the 2009 VMAs.
He’s pretty much been keeping a low profile in the studio, and on stage, but Sunday marked his triumphant return to the spotlight. Somehow, Kanye did it big while keeping it simple with his performance.
About this time last year, Chris Brown was still feeling the sting from his infamous fight with then-girlfriend Rihanna. People suspected it was the reason that he was nowhere to be found on the 2009 BET Awards stage, when many expected him to pay tribute to Michael Jackson.
Last night he finally got his chance to do just that, pulling off Michael’s famous moves with stunning accuracy! Did anyone see that moonwalk? And, in a move that has everyone talking, he delivered a tearful performance of “Man In the Mirror,” when he broke down.
Finally, T.I. showed everyone that nearly a year in lock-up didn’t dull his skills on the stage when he popped up during Dirty Money Crew’s performance of “Hello Good Morning.” Yeah, we know that Rick Ross and Nicki Minaj did their thing, too, but T.I. stole the show when he emerged from a cloud of smoke to spit his verse.
