Can it be done again? Drake turned his mixtape into an EP, but can Fabolous pull it off?
Fabolous’s mixtape, The Funeral Service: There Is No Competition 2, will be re-released as an EP, according to MTV News. The mixtape was doing so well on its own that the rapper was told he should put a price to it.
Fabolous said that the mixtape was intended to be free music for his fans, but it turned into something more.
“It’s crazy to me,” Fab told MTV, “because it started out as something I wanted to give free to the fans and people who accept my work. Def Jam even came in and said, ‘Whoa, we gotta get a piece.’ It’s a good thing, man.”
A well-known example of a mixtape becoming an EP is Drake’s So Far Gone. The Funeral Service: There Is No Competition 2 will include four new songs from Fabolous, who described the mixtape as a classic that people are still listening to.
The rapper said, “People are still listening to it, still on Twitter talking about it. It’s crazy”
