Matt Barnes may not be taking his talents and skills to Canada to play for the Toronto Raptors like he thought.
Somehow lost among all the hoopla about LeBron joining the Miami Heat was news that Matt, another free agent, hadn’t found a new home court until this week. Matt announced the move via Twitter on Monday night, stating, “Nxt season I will b playing for the Toronto Raptors.”
Although Matt would reportedly make $9 million from the two-year deal, he still seemed a little down that he wasn’t picked up by a team stateside. “Wish things could have went down alil different but thx for everything,” he tweeted.
However, there’s now news that Matt’s deal with Toronto fell through because of the limited sign-and-trade option on his contract with the Orlando Magic. That means Matt is again weighing his options about which hoop he’ll be hanging from next season.
Sources tell ESPN.com that several high-profile teams are still in competition for him, including the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Miami Heat, the Boston Celtics and the Los Angeles Lakers.
