Tracy Morgan plans to make viewers laugh until it hurts on his upcoming HBO special.
The network has announced that the “30 Rock” funnyman will star in Black and Blue, his own stand-up comedy special. There’s no word on how long it will be, but we assume it will be an hour-long show.
Black and Blue will be taped at the Apollo Theater in New York on September 24 and 25. While Tracy will have the live audience rolling both of those nights, it’s going to take home viewers a little longer to get the joke. Black and Blue won’t air until sometime in November.
Old fans of Tracy’s comedy know that he’s unpredictable onstage, and he’s promising more of the same. "The special is going to be all the elements: fire, water, earth, air, the comedy bender, the avatar of comedy experience," Tracy said.
Of course newcomers who expect to see more of Tracy’s brand of funny from “30 Rock” may be in for a shock, and HBO is giving them fair warning.
"Tracy Morgan is a rare talent who is at the top of his game, and we are thrilled to bring him to HBO in what we expect to be an exciting, outrageous and no-holds-barred special," said Nancy Geller, HBO’s senior vice president of original programming.
