Aretha Fanklin is offering her regrets over having to cancel two concerts due to injury.

The singer announced today that she has been sidelined from the stage because of a fractured rib and pain in her abdomen. She’s been advised to reschedule two free shows that would have taken place in Brooklyn next week.

"I was very much looking forward to being in Brooklyn and having a foot long hot dog at Coney Island," Aretha said.  “Hopefully, I will get it before the end of August.”

The ailments will also keep Aretha from performing at Congressman Charles Rangel’s birthday party on August 11; he’s turning 80.

“I will really miss that nice slice of cake from Congressman Charlie Rangel’s birthday party and singing happy birthday to him."

We’re sure Charles can save a slice for the Queen of Soul. Unfortunately, there’s no word yet on when Aretha plans on making up the missed shows.
