We miss Aaliyah and her music

It’s been nine years since R&B princess Aaliyah passed away in a tragic plane crash, now S2S is remembering her and her music.

Sure we could mope that Aaliyah’s no longer with us…or we could celebrate the amazing gift she shared with the world while she was here.  So in honor of the singer’s life, we’re showing some of her most memorable videos.

Aaliyah first hit the scene with “Back and Forth” a track backed by the Pied Piper of R&B, R. Kelly. As soon as we saw the video we were hitting up our folks for a wardrobe like hers!

Aaliyah’s sound and style evolved with “4 Page Letter,” which perfectly outlined how any shy, lovestruck girl should approach the object of her affection.

We’ll never forget Aaliyah’s acting debut in Romeo Must Die. Who knew she could act and kick booty all at the same time? She put her vocal skills to good use for the movie with “Try Again,” arguably the best cut from the whole soundtrack.

We don’t really have anything clever to say about “More Than A Woman” other than that it’s one of our favorite Aaliyah tracks.

Aaliyah introduced what was to be her final album with “We Need A Resolution.” The song reminds us of why her creative partnership with producer Timbaland was such a potent mix that music lovers couldn’t deny was pure genius.

We would be remiss if we didn’t include the video for “Rock the Boat” in this lineup. It was the last video she ever recorded, right before she boarded the small plane from the Bahamas that crashed because it was overloaded with people and equipment. Rest in peace, Aaliyah
