After an impressive debut, two of our faves slipped in the ranking on "Dancing With the Stars."
Couple: Brandy & Maksim Chmerkovskiy
We count it a small victory that by the second week of competition Brandy and Maks haven’t ripped each other to shreds. Footage of practice gave us cause for concern, though.
Practicing the Jive was not effortless for Brandy, who sometimes struggled to keep up with her coach’s pace. "Right now, me and Maks are butting heads like crazy because I want to get it right, and he wants me to move on before I get it right," Brandy said.
The singer admitted that it led to a arguments during rehearsal: "Maks and I don’t always see eye-to-eye, but I know that we both want to do a good job, so tonight we’re going to give this jive everything we’ve got."
The energy of the dance lacked a certain lightness, and one of their tricks towards the end seemed a little clumsy. Honestly, we thought they pulled it off a lot better during practice. But, however you thought Brandy did during the routine, you can’t deny that Brandy definitely got into character for the Jive.
Judge Carrie Ann Inaba thought Brandy was really cute to watch, "but the energy was a little out of control and you didn’t point your toes."
Judge Len Goodman thought Brandy took a step back this week from where she was last week. "It was a little bit brittle. You didn’t dance with full intent. It was a little bit disappointing, but still a good performance," he said.
Bruno said she looked like one of Gwen Stefani’s Harajuku Girls. "OK from you is not good enough because I know you could be superb," he said. "It wasn’t sharp enough. It wasn’t precise enough. You could do so much better."
Brandy and Maksim only got 21 points from the judges.
