‘DWTS’ producers back Bruno

The producers of “Dancing With the Stars” are siding with Bruno Tonioli in the fallout from Monday night’s critique of Michael Bolton.

Bruno called Michael’s Jive the worst he’s ever seen in 11 seasons of “DWTS” and that’s saying something. Although it wasn’t a glowing review, producers don’t feel that he was out of line.

"Bruno’s role as a judge is to give his honest opinions on the quality of the dances he’s judging," they said in a statement. "While we respect the feelings of our celebrities and dancers, we don’t feel Bruno should be expected to apologize for doing his job."

From the way Michael reacted to the critique, you’d have thought Bruno slapped the singer’s mama (BTW: She was in the audience that night).  After the show Monday, Michael told ABC that he expected an apology from Bruno and that he wanted the judge to face some kind of punishment.

It looks like Michael might be waiting for retribution.
