Prince announces U.S. tour

The Purple One is about to give fans some major face time with his upcoming tour.

Prince briefly gathered his subjects at the Apollo Theater yesterday to announce the Welcome 2 America tour, starting “on a purple day in December 2010.” He didn’t go into specifics about the exact date that the tour would kick off.
"Welcome 2 America is best described as what we’ve all been waiting for,” the artist said.

Calling it a “series of events,” Prince said that he would be acting as the masters of ceremonies for the show, which will feature a number of other acts. The roster includes Sheila E., Janelle Monae (“my favorite new artist,” Prince said.), Esperanza Spalding and Lalah Hathaway, just to name a few.
Before you get your mouth all poked out, though, Prince assured that he would be taking the stage as well.

"You need to come early, you need to come often, because every time we play it’s always something new,” he declared. “No concert is ever the same. I’ve got a lot of hits.“

He ended the press conference, mandating, “Bring friends, bring your children and bring foot spray ’cause it’s gon’ be funky.”
