‘Sesame Street’ talks tresses

"Sesame Street" is telling little Black girls (and probably big ones, too) to love their locks just as they are.
The preschool show is all about promoting self-esteem and teaching kids to like the person they see in the mirror. But hair can still be a touchy subject for brown-skinned babies.

We should know! Our moms have been dragging us to salons for ages trying to tame our tresses with hot combs, and later relaxers. But as this muppet sings, there’s nothing wrong with keeping it naturally curly.
