T.I. caught a major break in his Los Angeles drug case: Drug charges against the rapper have been dropped.
According to the New York Daily News, prosecutors opted not to charge the rapper with felony drug charges stemming from his arrest on the Sunset Strip last month.
In early September, just weeks after tying the knot with Tiny, the rapper and his new wife were taken into custody after police found four ecstasy pills in their car.
"The Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office‘s decision to reject [T.I.]’s case was the right thing to do under the circumstances," Steve Saddow, the rapper’s lawyer, stated in e-mail. He also congratulated the D.A. for "exercising its discretion to reject prosecution in light of the legal and factual issues involved."
Tip didn’t get off so easy on the federal level, though. He’s been sentenced to 11 months in prison for violating the terms of his parole. The rapper set free this Spring after serving 10 months in lock-up for felony gun charges.
Under the terms of his release, T.I. was forbidden from having any controlled substance in his possession illegally.
Reportedly, he’ll be reporting back to lock-up on November 1.
