Monica is explaining why she decided to keep her private thoughts private by quitting Twitter.
Not long after Monica revealed that she was engaged to "Love All Over Me" leading man Shannon Brown, she decided to stop tweeting. While many in the public speculated Monica’s silent treatment had to do with her new whirlwind romance, she insists that nothing could be further from the truth.
“I quit Twitter for a way deeper reason,” Monica said during an interview on WPGC’s "Big Tigger Morning Show" today. “At first we couldn’t really talk about it, but we had a way more serious situation than just somebody saying something on Twitter, and legally we couldn’t really talk about it at the time."
The singer even suggested that it might have had to do with a stalker.
"It was not anybody on Twitter. It was someone keeping up with me through Twitter. It’s been going on for years–way before Twitter–but they were using Twitter to keep up with me," Monica explained.
And Monica wanted to dispel rumors that the her digital departure had anything to do with cyber-bullying.
"People have talked about and been cruel toward me, and every other artist, long before Twitter came about, so it would never be something as simple as something that somebody said.”
