Atlanta rap trio Travis Porter is getting ready to hit the mainstream after inking a new record deal.
The group announced that it has signed a deal with jive Records. “We’re extremely excited with our new label home,” the group said in a statement released yesterday.
Much like Drake and Nicki Minaj, Travis Porter carved a path to the national spotlight for themselves after building a following as an independent group. The buzz generated by their fan base is subsequently what caught Jive’s attention.
"The first time I saw them, I knew they could be a cultural phenomenon,” Jive VP of A&R Jeffery Sledge said in a statement. “They have a following of kids of all ethnicities and Travis Porter is more than just music, they are a movement. We’re proud to have them join the Jive roster."
The fellas of Travis Porter (Strap, Quez and Ali) couldn’t be more thrilled that their hard work has paid off, but they won’t spend too much time congratulating themselves.
“It’s good to see our dedication to music and the help of our loyal fan base worked in our favor,” the group stated. “Now, it’s time to work. We’ll celebrate when the time is right.”
Of course the guys have a lot to celebrate right now, since their current single, “Make It Rain,” is in the Top 50 on Billboard’s Hot 100 Singles chart.
