Ashley Walker tells us why she leapt at the chance to show American that not all NBA wives cause drama.

Ashley would have been lying if she hadn’t admitted that she was reluctant at first to join the cast of VH1’s “Basketball Wives” this season.

“Most people want to stay away from the drama in their lives. You don’t want to create any more drama,” Ashley said of her initial misgivings after watching some episodes from the first season. She eventually came around when producers assured her that this season would shift away from all the yelling and drink throwing.

“It really was about bringing some more positivity to the show and showing what each individual woman does,” she said, explaining why she eventually decided to sign on for the reality show. “Each woman on the show has a lot going on.”

Ashley for example, just landed a contract with Tequila Distinguido to endorse the brand in a few innovative ways. Under the deal, she’ll be sharing some unexpected tequila-infused recipes on her website every week. For example, the “Basketball Wives” star will show visitors how to cook a turkey with tequila to give your holiday bird an interesting twist.

That’s not all, though. Ashley’s also releasing a line of lip gloss by Lamix that will benefit her charity. A portion of the proceeds will go to her Mission of Love organization. There’s also a line of bronzer in the works.

One thing that you won’t be seeing on “Basketball Wives” is her relationship with Rafer Alston, and her home life in Houston, Texas. The show was filmed in Miami, and Ashley was pretty well-prepared on what to expect when meeting the other ladies.

“I think that everyone is kind of the same. On reality TV, they edit, but they can only edit so much,” she reasoned.

To see how she meshes with Shaunie O’Neal and the girls, tune in to “Basketball Wives” Sundays at 8 p.m. on Vh1.
