More travelers hit highway for holiday

    It looks like more people than ever are deciding to head home or the holidays.



     
    AAA predicts that at least 92.3 million Americans will hop in their cars or on a plane to travel at least 50 miles from home between December 23 and January 2. That’s a 3.1 percent increase from last year.
     
    "After a challenging year in 2009,” a AAA statement said, “a modestly improved economic environment and pent-up demand resulted in more Americans traveling in 2010, and the year-end holidays are no exception.”

     
    Increased air travel may have to do with the expectation that airfare will decrease by about 3 percent. Drivers likely won’t enjoy any deals as rental cars will likely cost the same as they did last year.
