The Ivory Queen of Soul has passed away after suffering a seizure.
According to CNN, Teena Marie has died at the age of 54. There is no word on the cause of her death at this time, but we heard that she passed on after surring a seizure.
Teena’s manager Mike Gardner told Roland Martin that the singer’s daughter Aliya found Teena dead in her home on Sunday. Teena’s body is currently being held at coroner’s office awaiting determination for an official cause of death.
This was the second seizure that Teena had suffered in about a month. The singer recently had a grand mal seizure while watching a movie in bed with Aliya.
One of Teena’s handlers told S2S that they had spoken with the singer a night before she passed way. Reportedly, she was feeling well and was planning to perform in Atlanta on Wednesday. Supposedly, Teena was in good health as she recently lost about 15 pounds and had been taking herbs.
Teena’s biggest hit was her 1984 single "Lovergirl," but she will also be remembered for her duet with the late Rick James, "Fire and Desire."
