Tyler Perry racks up the NAACP Image Award noms

Whether he actually wins the awards or not, Tyler Perry has already left his mark on the 42nd NAACP Image Awards by garnering 19 nominations, including one for Outstanding Motion Picture for For Colored Girls.
The multi-talented Tyler has only two nominations for his directing and writing. However, adding up all those for his TBS sitcoms ("Meet the Browns" and  "Tyler Perry’s House of Payne") and those garnered by the actors in his movies and films, the Hollywood phenom has collected 20 nominations.
In addition to its nod for Outstanding Motion Picture, For Colored Girls swept the entire Supporting Actress category–with the exception of Jill Scott, who was nominated for Why Did I Get Married Too? Co-stars Anika Noni-Rose, Kimberly Elise, Phylicia Rashad and Whoopi Goldberg are all competing for that award. Janet Jackson was recognized in the Outstanding Actress category.
Other movies with multiple nominations are Queen Latifah’s Just Wright and Book of Eli, starring Denzel Washington.
Ice Cube’s “Are We There Yet” picked up four nominations.
Cee Lo Green, Usher and Alicia Keys each picked up two nominations. Sade was named in three categories, including Outstanding Female Artist.
The awards will air live on March 4 on FOX.
