News of a new zodiac sign, and a huge shift in the astrological calendar, has knocked the blogosphere off its axis.

Everything you know about yourself might be a lie! The
Los Angeles Times reports that there is now a 13th zodiac sign named Ophiuchus, which has caused all the other signs to redefine their dates.

For example, many Libras have now been pushed back under the sign of Virgo, and some Tauruses are now, apparently, Aries.

The explosive discovery came from astronomer Parke Kunkle, a professor at Minneapolis Community and Technical College

"I defined the zodiac by the constellations that are in the background when you look at where the sun, moon, and stars are," Parke said. "Ophiuchus has been around a long time, and the sun has been going through Ophiuchus for thousands of years.

    According to the
Huffington Post, the new sign of Ophiuchus is known as the “serpent-bearer" in Greek and it’s depicted as a man holding a snake. It falls between November 29 and December 17. Little is known about the origins of this constellation, which was discovered by a philosopher named Ptolemy.

Under the updated astrological calender, Jay-Z, Jamie Foxx and Brad Pitt would all be Ophiuchuses (or is it Ophiuchi? We’re not sure about the plural form for this new sign). Trey Songz just missed the cut for having to switch signs as he was born on November 28.

Of course, whether or not you have to change your sign all depends on who you ask and when you were born, according this report from CNN.
