Drake is going back to his roots with the craft that made him a teen idol (in Canada): Acting.
Oh, sure, Drake can spit some of the hottest verses around, and his talents are widely supported by the hip-hop and R&B community. But before he ever hit the musical mainstream in the United States, he was huge in Canada with "Degrassi: The Next Generation."
HipHopWired.com reports that the rapper is now angling for a role the upcoming independent film Arbitrage, where he would join acting greats Al Pacino and Susan Sarandon.
The Wall Street thriller centers on an executive trying to offload a company before he’s found guilty of fraud. Drake’s role in the film isn’t locked in yet, but shooting for Arbitrage will start in New York in March.
