It turns out that so-called relationship expert Steve Harvey may have some work to do on his own situation with his ex-wife, whose recent viral videos accuse him of adultery.
Steve responded, via his lawyer, to his ex’s accusations, which were referred to as “false, misleading, derogatory, disparaging, malicious, explicit and slanderous.”
The lawyer’s letter read: “We are appalled and aware of the videos and other fabricated documents, which were placed on the Internet this weekend by the ex-wife of Mr. Steve Harvey."
Steve has never claimed to be perfect, but his top-selling book, Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man, established him as a bit of an expert on male-female relationships. He claims that several women who followed his advice were able to make that often-elusive leap from girlfriend to fiancée.
However, the comedian and radio host, who is currently working on a movie based on Act Like a Lady, is on his third marriage, and wife No. 2, Mary Shackelford, claims in the video that his current marriage to Marjorie Bridges began while she was still married to Steve.
Mary also alleges that she received a letter from a woman claiming that she and Steve were in a long-term adulterous affair. In the three-part video she describes their relationship from the time Steve courted her to now and claims he’s suing her because Oprah Winfrey did not give him a television show, a decision for which he allegedly blames his ex-wife.
“When I try to move forward, I keep getting pulled back into a situation that I don’t want to be a part of," Mary said in reference to the alleged lawsuit.
Steve seems to be trying to rise above the drama by not directly responding to his wife’s allegations, but it’s unlikely that this is the end of the saga.
Is Mary telling the truth about Steve, or is she just looking for some publicity and revenge?
That remains to be seen.
