Taraji P. Henson is the latest celebrity to show skin in the name of animal rights. The Oscar-nominated actress’ new campaign lets the cat out of the bag–so to speak. Judging on the incredible figure seen in the ad on the left, Taraji, 40, is in very good shape. You go, girl! (And, yes, we definitely spotted that tattoo on her hip.)
Taraji told People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), "When I realized what went into … we’re not just even talking about a full-length fur coat, I’m talking about just … fur on your gloves or on your jacket. What goes into making that little piece of fur ripped my heart out. And as humans, we have control. What if someone said, ‘Black skin is the new fur’?"
Although she’d rather be naked than wear fur now, Taraji said it was an HBO documentary that turned her away from the material, which is considered a luxury in many cultures and a necessity in others.
“I love fashion. I would wear fur because it was hot. Whatever the new fashion was, I was into it, but I saw this documentary. I was riveted. I cried,” the actress said. “I don’t think a living being should suffer for the sake of fashion. Period.”
