Nicki Minaj’s first appearance on “SNL” proved to be memorable, but not just because of her musical performance.
For the most part, fans have only seen Nicki flex her acting muscles in music videos, but the graduate of New York’s Laguardia Arts high school for the performing arts held her own with the seasoned cast of the sketch-comedy show, including Keenan Thompson, in a skit called "Bride of Blackenstein."
The skit poked fun at several stereotypes of Black women, with Nicki flaunting her oversized derriere, loudly insisting her man get a job and declaring that she’s going out to party.
However, “SNL” is not known for its political correctness, and the jokes are relatively mild.
Nicki told MTV, "Being a part of ‘Saturday Night Live’ feels absolutely incredible. I still don’t even believe it’s true; I’m not even going to believe it’s really happening until — well, I’m going to DVR it, because I can’t watch it, because I’ll be on it," she said. "But until I see it back on DVR, I’m not even going to believe I was really on the show. This is epic! This is monumental! This is historic stuff!"
