Method Man tried to clear things up after he was caught on camera making disparaging remarks about Black women’s hair.

The Wu-Tang alum didn’t bite his tongue when sharing his views on sisters’ hair, sans straighteners, weaves and chemicals.

“I don’t like peasy Afros. Sorry. I don’t like dreads either. I like a woman to get her hair did,” he said.

After the blogosphere’s swift and critical reaction, Meth attempted to put his comments in context, saying he was joking around with a friend whose hair was in an afro at the time.

“I was being sarcastic. I’m a clown. I like to joke around and stuff like that,” he said before encouraging women to rock whatever styles they prefer.

“Girl, if you want to come outside with your hair in an afro, so be it. Do what you do. If you wanna rock dreads, so be it. Do what you do. If you wanna take it back to Africa or take it back to where ever the hell you want to take it back to, you do that. I don’t care how a female wear her hair. If that’s her preference, by all means, do you, boo boo.”

He continued: “I love my Black sisters, with or without Afros, with or without dreads.”

While explaining himself to Big Tigger on the radio last week, Meth was obviously a little irritated that his comments had gone viral and that folks were putting so much focus on his remarks.

“If this is what the new media is, I’d rather do my album way underground where nobody can interview me or say anything. Real talk.”

He challenged Media Takeout, Bossip and other sites to focus on more important issues.

“Do some real reporting, like Meth donating computers to schools… or speaking to kids about staying off drugs, instead of worrying about a n*??er joking about female hair. That’s stupid to me.”
