Jennifer Hudson sat down with Oprah Winfrey on Thursday and shared how she’s dealt with the devastating loss of her mother, brother and nephew.
“My family, my baby and God,” said a teary-eyed Jennifer, explaining how she’s managed to cope with the grief. “It’s a very emotional subject.”
“The only thing I can do to honor their memory is to make them proud, and that’s what keeps me going,” Jennifer said.
She also talked about her weight loss. Oprah pressured her into revealing just how many pounds she’s shed. Jennifer, the former size 16 who is now a size 6, told the audience that she lost 80 pounds. They responded with a standing ovation.
“It’s like a brand new me, “Jennifer said. “I feel so empowered. I feel like I gained 10 years of my life back.”
Although her body has changed, Jennifer said her mind hasn’t quite caught up yet.
“I’ll still go in the store and pick up the bigger sizes. Your mind has to catch up,” she said.
Jennifer said she decided to lose weight after she gave birth to her son. “I wanted my body back."
“I cook all my meals at home. When I work out, I do what I like to do,” said Jennifer, whose exercise regimen includes jumping rope, playing basketball and running on the treadmill, which Jennifer said is her favorite weight-loss activity.
Oprah said, “I long for the day when I can say the treadmill is my favorite.”
