El DeBarge has backed out of an upcoming tour to seek treatment for substance abuse.
The "Second Chance" singer revealed yesterday that he has put his comeback on hold and has entered a drug rehabilitation center.
“I hate to disappoint my fans, but it is necessary for me to take the time to work on me so that I may continue to share my music and my story with everyone," the singer explained in a statement. "I thank everyone in advance for their prayers and well wishes and hope that you will respect my privacy during this time."
This news comes after the singer suffered a relapse a few weeks ago, according to BV Buzz. El’s label, Geffen Records, insists that it was ultimately his decision to enter rehab. However, rapper 50 Cent reportedly had a hand in submitting him to a treatment center.
El has plans to appear on Kem’s Intimacy Tour, starting February 17 in Houston, alongside Ledisi. Despite the short notice, Musiq Soulchild will be filling in for the crooner. We expect that his latest single "Anything," which just hit iTunes, will be part of the set.
