And to think, he almost got away with it.

The New York Times reports that Shirley has sued Andrew for posting an inflammatory clip on YouTube that made Shirley appear racist. The clip eventually led to her being ousted from the USDA.  According to the suit, filed Friday in Washington, D.C., Shirley said the video has hurt her reputation and kept her from continuing on with her career.

In the clip, running two minutes and 38 seconds, Shirley admitted that she had discriminated against a White farmer early on in her career. The footage, which was excerpted from a longer clip, prompted the Obama administration to press Shirley to step down from her position as the USDA director of rural development in Georgia. She was also slammed by the NAACP for the comments in the video.

However, when the full speech was released, it was revealed that the clip was only part of a story about how Shirley overcame her own issues with race.

Shirley announced plans to sue Andrew back in July, when the controversial clip was released, but he wasn’t served until February 12 at the Conservative Political Action Conference.
