Sarah Palin’s most recent failed attempt at humor was viewed as another attack on First Lady Michelle Obama.
During an address in New York last week, Sarah seemingly took issue with Michelle’s Let’s Move! campaign … and with breast milk.
“It’s no wonder Michelle Obama is telling everybody you better breastfeed your baby–yeah, you better, because the price of milk is so high right now!" Sarah said in response to questions about the high price of groceries.
In December, Sarah used her TLC reality TV show to make another comment about Michelle’s efforts. While out camping with her family, she said, “Where are the s’mores ingredients? This is in honor of Michelle Obama, who said the other day we should not have dessert."
Michelle’s Let’s Move! campaign urges mothers to give their children more healthy food options. Her organization was founded, in part, to help combat childhood obesity.
Sarah, remembering that she invited the media to this event, which she rarely does, tried to limit the fallout from the statement. “May that not be the takeaway, please, of this speech,” she said.
In her speech, she avoided commenting on President Obama’s citizenship, which she referred to as "distracting."
