‘DWTS’ season 12 cast revealed

It’s official: Wendy Williams will be wiggling her way around the ballroom on the next season of “Dancing With the Stars.”

ABC has finally announced the season 12 cast of “DWTS,” confirming reports that Wendy was tapped to compete for this cycle. There’s no word yet on who Wendy will be partnered with, however. Wendy will dish about her casting during “The Wendy Williams Show” on Wednesday, so maybe we’ll find out which professional will be taking her for a twirl then.

In celebration of joining the dance competition show, Wendy rocked a huge mirrorball ring, which she had been hiding for several weeks, to the announcement during last night’s episode of “The Bachelor.”

“This was one of the hardest secrets to keep,” said Wendy, who is all about leaking big news. “It was so hard to keep the secret. I’m exhausted!”

Fans of her talk show shouldn’t worry about whether production will suffer, Wendy assured, “I got this!”

She’ll be competing for the mirrorball trophy against rapper-actor Romeo, former boxer Sugar Ray Leonard and Pittsburgh Steeler wide receiver Hines Ward. Kendra Wilkinson (who Wendy sees as her biggest competition), Kirstie Alley, Chris Jericho, Chelsea Kane, Ralph Macchio, Mike Catherwood and Petra Nemcova are also on the roster for this season’s ballroom blitz.

With the premiere coming later this month, all the competitors need to be in tip-top shape to handle all the hard work. That doesn’t worry this season’s grid-iron gladiator.

“I did have minor knee surgery–just a light scope–but I’ll be fine,” said Hines, whose NFL team just came off a defeat at the Super Bowl last month. “I’m looking forward to it, and I think a lot of our fears up here is that we don’t want to be eliminated first.”

Romeo will be dancing with an internal injury of his own, admitting with a laugh, “I got a broken heart.” He was supposed to be on season two, but a basketball injury sidelined him that time around.

“That’s when my dad [Percy Miller], with his fantabulous dancing skills, stepped in,” Romeo explained. Those who recall Percy’s turn on the show know that he didn’t exactly have any moves, so Romeo has a chance to redeem his family’s name on “DWTS.”

To see who manages to get in step, tune into the two-hour season 12 premiere of  “DWTS” when it airs March 21 at 8 p.m. on ABC.
