Rihanna rejects ‘Bodyguard’ role?

Rihanna’s not exatly leaping at the chance to follow in Whitney Houston’s footsteps  on the silver screen.

Last Month Warner Bros. confirmed that it was moving ahead with remake of its 1992 hit film The Bodyguard. When asked if she’d be open to playing the lead role, The “S&M” singer told OK! magazine, “Absolutely not!”

Rihanna thinks the role wouldn’t be a challenge because she’s already a singer in real life, so playing one in a movie isn’t a stretch. “I want to separate the two,” she explained. “I hate it when singers do singing movies all the time because you can never look at them as anybody else.”

“I want to play a character,” Rihanna said. “My whole life is playing Rihanna, (so) being a singer (in a film) won’t be a stretch for me. I like challenges and being an actor is playing a role, being able to step into somebody else’s shoes, that’s the excitement.”

While Rihanna has been linked to various film projects, like a remake of The Last Dragon, she’ll be hitting theaters across the country in Battleship later this year.
