Oprah Winfrey, the Queen of Daytime, is allegedly upset with Aretha Franklin, the Queen of Soul, who opted to grant Wendy Williams the privilege of an interview and not Oprah.
Insiders at “The Oprah Winfrey Show” are saying that Oprah would have rolled out the red carpet for Aretha with a star-studded episode including Stevie Wonder and Smokey Robinson.
Although there are no reports that Aretha has refused to grace Oprah’s stage, it seems Oprah wanted first dibs, but that honor went to Wendy, who interviewed Aretha a few weeks ago at a Detroit location.
“This is the final season of her show, and she’s been pushing to land all the big ‘gets’ out there. Oprah is embarrassed that Aretha – a legend – chose Wendy, who is a relative newcomer to the TV talk show world,” the insider told The National Enquirer.
So far this season, Oprah has welcomed several high-profile guests to her show, including Diana Ross and Tyler Perry. She also went inside the home of Katherine Jackson and spoke with Michael Jackson’s children, nieces and nephews.
It remains to be seen whether Oprah will still have Aretha on the show and treat her with a VIP reception. The last day of taping for “The Oprah Winfrey Show” is just a few months away. The final episode will take in May.
