Solange makes RAIN for Kenya

Solange Knowles has taken a break from the DJ booth to help the water crisis in Kenya with a new song.
Solange has recorded a track titled “Kenya” to benefit Coca-Cola’s Replenish Africa Initiative (RAIN). The song aims to raise money and awareness about the lack of access to clean water in African countries such as Kenya.

On “Kenya,” Solange prefers to let the music take center stage, supplying soft background vocals for the mainly instrumental mid-tempo track created by Chris Taylor and Twin Shadow. Proceeds from the sale of  “Kenya” will go to fund water provisions in a number of African countries including Rwanda, Uganda and Cameroon.

To Solange, the song and its accompanying video (posted below) perfectly combine to truly capture the spirit of Kenya while bringing light to just how hard it is to get clean water in Africa. “It inspires hope when it’s more upbeat and spirited, and I think that that is what the conversation should be about,” said Solange, who’s making a name for herself as a DJ.
