Rihanna is giving us couture and talking about her family drama in the April issue of Vogue.
The good girl gone bad told Vogue that her relationship with her father, Ronald Fenty, is shaky at best right now. Why? Rihanna feels that her dad has betrayed her trust, on more than a few occasions, in the interest of making a quick buck from tabloids hungry for the inside scoop on his famous daughter.
Rihanna claims that his greedy ways have even prompted him to sell some of her childhood to gossip magazines.
“It really makes me question what I have become to my father. Like, what do I even mean to him?” Rihanna said. “It’s really strange. That’s the only word I can think of to describe it, because you grow up with your father, you know him, you are a part of him, for goodness’ sakes! And then he does something so bizarre that I can’t begin to wrap my mind around it.”
Rihanna said things between her and Ron began to sour immediately following her infamous fight with then-boyfriend Chris Brown in 2009.
“That was the first time…..My dad went to the press and just told them a bunch of lies. Because he hadn’t talked to me after…that whole thing,” she revealed. “He never called to find out how I was doing, if I was alive, nothing. He just never called. He went straight to the press and got a check. And now he does it again.”
Although things between Rihanna and her dad are lukewarm, the Barbadian beauty is loving her body right about now. While shooting her Vogue spread with celebrity photographer Annie Leibovitz, the singer waxed philosophical on the importance of your curves.
“For a woman to accept their body the way it is, is almost impossible–the grass is always greener,” Rihanna said.
In the pages of Vogue, she shared that she was only recently able to shake off her issues with body image. From the look of the on-set video posted below, Rihanna’s new-found confidence helped while she posed for Annie.
