Couple: Romeo & Chelsie Hightower
Romeo had a couple things working against him coming into the competition. For starters, there’s Percy Miller (aka Master P). He was the worst dancer in “DWTS” history, once pulling 2s from the judges.
“He’s kind of notorious for having the lowest scores on ‘Dancing With the Stars,'” Romeo admitted. “But me, I’m here for redemption.”
Fortunately for Romeo, his dad set the bar really low–there’s no way he could have been worse than Percy! It’s impossible! Romeo’s a bit quicker on his feet than his old man, and he’s got a determined partner in Chelsie Hightower, who wants the mirrorball trophy so bad she can taste it.
Unfortunately, Romeo has to get past his own image issues to do the moves it will take to win. “I told Chelsie, ‘If I could move my hips better than Rihanna, it’s a problem,'” he said. Romeo doesn’t want to come off looking like a “goofball.”
Chelsie thinks he’s too worried about looking cool, and she had to explain to him that shaking his hips and getting a little silly is a good thing on “DWTS.”
We’re not sure what she did, but by the time Romeo made his way to the stage on Monday, all that concern was gone! He and Chelsie have a very obvious chemistry that lent itself to their Cha-Cha-Cha, and Romeo put a lot of his own personality into the routine.
Although we would have liked to see some more variation in his moves, we thought he did a pretty good job for the first episode. And it’s clear that he’s going after the title of “DWTS” heartthrob this season. His moves, although they were a little messy, made judge Carrie Ann Inaba say he has “sex appeal for days!”
Romeo’s racy Cha Cha earned him and Chelsie 19 points.
