Asheley Jewell’s condition is improving and the teen has regained her ability to talk.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that the Asheley, who was shot in the head earlier this month, has begun to speak.

“Today our family is thanking God for a miracle,” Asheley’s cousin Ebony Phillips stated in an e-mail. “Asheley began speaking over the weekend and requested a Pepsi. The doctors are amazed. This is more than the doctors expected, but exactly what we knew God could do. Thanks again for all your prayers.”

Asheley, the daughter of Kandi Burruss’ deceased ex-fiance A.J. Jewell, was critically wounded on March 5 while out riding with three friends in Atlanta.  A car began chasing their vehicle before shots were fired and one bullet struck Asheley in the head. She was the only one injured in what police believe was an incident of road rage.

A suspect has yet to be named in the shooting. Anyone with information on the incident is urged to call Crime Stoppers in Atlanta at (404) 577-8477.
