LaLa dispels baby rumors and talks ‘BBW’

LaLa Vasquez Anthony addressed the rumors about her husband’s “secret baby” and shared her feelings on “Basketball Wives.”

“That story is laughable,” said LaLa in reference to the hidden child rumors.

“If I knew about a baby, what type of woman would it make me to say ‘hide your kid’? That’s just unbelievable. I would never do that. I don’t even know if I would be here right now if there was a secret baby. It would be a whole different story. You wouldn’t see me smiling and having a good time right now,” she assured listeners of New York’s 105.1 radio station.

It seems like Kiyan, the couple’s son, may be the only child the two ever have.

“I am not having any more kids. I had a very, very tough pregnancy, and I just don’t want to put myself through that again. I’m at the point now where I can balance Kiyan and my work and my marriage, and kind of do everything. I don’t want to go back to that bab-baby stage where you’re kind of tied down,” although she is leaving the door open, in case she changes her mind in the future.

What she’s unlikely to change her mind about is her participation in VH1’s hit show “Basketball Wives.”

The star of her own reality show said that she’s a fan of the series, as well as “Love & Hip Hop,” but she’s opted to go another route.

“I’ve watched every episode. I enjoy it—same with the new show ‘Love & Hip Hop,'” she said. “They’re really great shows, just ‘Basketball Wives’ doesn’t work for me.” LaLa also said she’d been asked to host the season two reunion show, and they’d wanted her for an even bigger role prior to that.

“I was asked in the beginning when the show first started to be a part of it by Shaunie. After talking to them, I just realized that’s not something that I want to do, but I do think the show gives everybody what they want, which is entertainment and drama, and it’s fun to watch,” said LaLa who is a friend of the show’s executive producer, Shaunie O’Neal.

“I only know Shaunie. I’ve never met any of the other girls,” she said, adding, “They seem great.”

LaLa, who is still adjusting to her move back to New York, said she’s working on the next season of her own reality show.

“The new season of my show—let me just make clear–is about me. A lot of people think they’re getting a newlyweds kind of show. It’s not that at all. It’s about me and balancing my life between here and Los Angeles, and when the trade happened, how it happened one night and an hour later we were on a plane to come to New York.”

So far she said the move to the Big Apple has been good.

“Being back in NY is amazing. The city has embraced us like never before. It really is crazy.”

LaLa said she’s also working on a children’s book, a movie with Val Kilmer and another reality show from the perspective of NBA players. She described it as the “guys’ version” of “Basketball Wives.”

She also talked about Chris Brown’s recent “Good Morning America” outburst, her friendships with Ciara and Kim Kardashian, and her shoe game. Watch the video.
