Chad Johnson is the most powerful American on Twitter, outranking both President Barack Obama and Kim Kardashian.
The New York Times reports that researchers at Twitalyzer have pegged Chad, the NFL player formerly known as Ochocinco, as the most influential Tweeter in the United States. He’s ranked second in the world behind Brazilian comedian Rafinha Bastos.
In addition to the number of followers someone has on Twitter, influence is measured by how many times a user is mentioned and has their posts re-tweeted. So, whatever Chad’s doing is working, because he’s got more impact on Twitter than Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber, both of whom have way more followers than him.
Chad comes in one spot ahead of late-night TV chat host Conan O’Brien. President Obama is ranked as the #7 most influential American on the microblog-based social network, while Kim is ranked at #9.
