R. Kelly has proven that he can write a hit R&B song, but now the Grammy winner is turning his talents to prose.
R. Kelly, who will be using his full first name as an author, is working on a introspective work titled Soulacoaster: The Diary of Me.
“I’m tired of being misunderstood. I will show you the tears, fears and sweat. I will open my heart and reveal the good in my life as well as the drama. I want to tell it like it is,” he said.
Robert hasn’t gotten very specific about what topics he’ll cover, but there’s a lot from which he can choose.
He’s been in the music business for more than a decade, has won three Grammy awards and had more than 10 No. 1 singles. His most recent effort, Love Letters, just reached gold status.
In addition to his professional achievements, R. Kelly has had quite a bit of personal drama his fans will likely be itching to read about, including his alleged quickie marriage to Aaliyah, his highly publicized sex tape and subsequent court case, and his short-lived participation in the Best of Both Worlds tour he headlined with rapper Jay-Z.
The book, now available for pre-order on Amazon.com, is co-written with David Ritz and described as a “part memoir, part keepsake” work that promises “his fans an intimate and unforgettable ride.”
