Evelyn Lozada may have gotten her wish for more money before returning for season 3 of “Basketball Wives.”
It was reported earlier that Evelyn wasn’t going to return to the show unless she received $20,000 an episode. TMZ.com reports that she didn’t get quite that much but settled on a salary that was double what she was previously paid.
According to some sources, Evelyn was getting about $7,500 an episode, which would put her at about $15,000 now.
Evelyn is clearly the breakout star of the show, aka Queen Bee, and her departure would have likely caused producers to revamp, replace and postpone taping for season 3.
Plus, some of Evelyn’s fans might have bailed on the show.
The pay wasn’t the only reason Evelyn considered bouncing from the popular VH1 reality show. She and fiancé Chad Ochocinco have been in talks about starring in their own series that would focus on their relationship and pending nuptials.
Evelyn had also taken issue with the way she was portrayed on the show, stating that she felt a bit set up by producers during the finale episode in which she exchanged blows with co-star Tami Roman.
According to TMZ, the show’s producers extended an apology.
Whatever agreement Evelyn came to with the show’s bigwigs, it seems it was enough to bring her back for season 3.
Shaunie O’Neal, the series’ executive producer, tweeted last week that Evelyn and BFF Jennifer Williams were already shooting for the June season premiere.
