Steve Harvey raises $600K for foundation

Steve Harvey raised more than $600,000 Monday night during his second annual gala to benefit young men in need of mentoring and guidance.

“I continue to be inspired by the generosity shown by all my friends and supporters who came out tonight,” Steve said. “Marjorie and I are so grateful and will use this money in the spirit it has been given: To change the lives of young men around the world.”

Boris Kodjoe, Cynthia Bailey, Gayle King, Angela Simmons and her uncle Russell Simmons were among those present. Tyler Perry and Chris Rock were honored at the event, which Sherri Shepherd hosted.

S2S Publisher Jamie Foster Brown was also on hand for the gala, and she particularly enjoyed Chris’  acceptance speech.

“Chris Rock was hilarious when he accepted his award from Steve Harvey’s foundation,” she said. ” [Chris’ speech] was filled with profanity, but hilarious, and he congratulated Steve Harvey on his present wife Marjorie, who he called ‘The Good Wife.’ Steve joked about the head of Ford Motor Company, Alan Mulally, almost kissing him in the mouth. It was hilarious.”
