Toni Braxton said she stays on her grind because she’s got some pretty expensive tastes.
"I need millions to maintain my lifestyle that I’ve grown accustomed to," Toni admitted to Jamie Foster Brown in the May 2011 issue of Sister 2 Sister magazine. The singer is starring alongside her sisters on WE tv’s "Braxton Family Values," but she’s not depending on the series to cover all of her expenses. "The reality show is not how I am really getting paid. Who said reality shows make you rich? That’s a misconception."
In explaining the economics of reality TV, however, Toni revealed that she looks at "Braxton Family Values" as a means to other money-making opportunities. "You can’t make millions from a reality show. Not to me," she said. "You make it from, I would think, your endorsements that you can possibly get from it."
While she is waiting for offers from advertisers to come rolling in, though, Toni is still hitting the stage. "I do one-off dates in Europe–because I’m much bigger in Europe than I am here in the States. I do little spot dates here and there and get paid really good, so I am surviving," she shared.
One expense Toni doesn’t have to worry about right now are alimony checks, because as she told S2S, she’s still not actually divorced from Keri Lewis. The pair split up in late 2009, but neither of them is ready to officially call it quits.
"We told the kids, ‘Sometimes mommy and daddy need a little break,’" Toni revealed. "That’s probably why I haven’t done a straight divorce yet. You never know."
