President Obama roasts Donald Trump

President Barack Obama took a few well-worded shots at Donald Trump, and himself, this weekend during the White House Correspondent’s Dinner.

After he released his long-form birth certificate, and before he announced the death of Osama bin Laden, the president suited up for the highlight of the political media season. Following a brief video touting his patriotism, he welcomed reporters from various news outlets such as Politico, CNN and FOX News with the tongue-in-cheek greeting, "My fellow Americans, mahalo."

"What a week," he exclaimed at the podium, before reminding everyone that he’d released yet another document proving that he was born in the United States. "Hopefully this puts all doubts to rest." But President Obama, ever the good sport, joked that he was ready to take a step futher a by showing a clip from his birth.

"I warn you, no one has seen this footage in 50 years–not even me," he said with a straight face, introducing the opening clip from Disney’s The Lion King. Just so that no one started a new round of citizenship questions, he stated, "I just want to make it clear to the FOX News: That was a joke. That was not my real birth video; that was a children’s cartoon. Call Disney if you don’t believe me, they have the original, long-form version."

The opening of his speech was an indirect shot at Donald, who brought the issue of Barack’s citizenship back to the national forefront by continuting to question whether the president was born on American soil. Shortly after the president released his long-form birth certficate, Donald publically claimed the reveal as a personal victory before stating that this document should be checked out for authenticity.

Frequent cuts to Donald’s table showed that the real estate mogul wasn’t laughing about the cracks at his expense. But the president hopped to Donald’s defense and said he understood why Donald was so quick to make demands.

"No one is happier, no is prouder, to put this birth certificate matter to rest than the Donald," Barack explained in a few direct jabs at his prospective presidential opponent. "That’s because he can get back to focusing on the issues that matter, like: Did we fake the moon landing? What really happened in Roswell? And where are Biggie and Tupac?!"

No one was safe from Barack’s jokes on Saturday, though. He reserved some of his wit for his biggest supporter, First Lady Michelle Obama. "We made a terrific team at the Easter Egg Roll this week," the president said of his wife. "I’d give out bags of candy to the kids, and she’d snatch them right back out of their little hands. Snatched ‘em!"

President Obama even lampooned himself and Vice President Joe Biden, or rather their way with words, in a trailer for the sequel to The King’s Speech. Watch it below!
