Oprah Winfrey isn’t one to settle for less, and that seems to hold true for her network OWN where she recently replaced the COO.
Christina Norman was dismissed as head of the network on Friday and replaced by Peter Liguori, who previously worked for Discovery, according to reports.
“Given all that we have to do, the OWN Board felt it was necessary that we have a different kind of leadership in place for the next phase of OWN’s growth,” Oprah wrote in a memo to staff.
Oprah’s network launched in January, but is struggling to gain a following. The channel is reportedly attracting fewer than 150,000 viewers at any given time. That’s a far cry from the 15 million viewers “The Oprah Winfrey” show is said to attract daily.
Oprah’s popular daytime show ends its 25-year run this year, at which time Oprah has indicated she will focus more of her attention on the fledgling network.
