Jealousy may have motivated M-Bone murder

The murder of Cali Swag District’s M-Bone may not have been as random as authorities first believed.

When the “Teach Me How to Dougie” artist was gunned down Sunday night, police first thought it was an instance of M-Bone, Monte Talbert, being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

However, the Inglewood police now think M-Bone was shot as a result of a jealous rage.

M-Bone’s girlfriend, who prefers not to be named, said a neighbor in their complex was extremely envious of M-Bone’s success, according to TMZ.

The neighbor’s rage reportedly led him and M-Bone into a Twitter war of words that climaxed with threats against the late rapper.

Although one neighbor has seemingly become a suspect in the murder, many others gathered Monday in Inglewood to pay tribute to M-Bone’s life.

Monte’s grandmother, Mary Alice Phillips, attended the vigil and thanked the community members for their support.

“I am so grateful for the outpouring of family, people, friends from all walks of life," she told Intersections South LA. “Our hearts are touched.”
