Sherri Shepherd shared her thoughts about the negative images on reality shows via Twitter, and Tami Roman and Shaunie O’Neal chimed right in.
The Twitter dialogue started when Sherri tweeted, “Watched ‘Basketball Wives’ last night … I thought grown women fighting was a thing of the past. The last time I fought someone I was 16.”
She continued: “And the language the women use on the show … I’m not close to perfect with my language, but … the fact that promos continuously showed violent fighting btwn the women was disturbing. Uplifting = no ratings.”
Sherri, seemingly concerned about the show’s depiction of Black women and the impression it leaves on young girls, went on with her Twitter vent for quite a while, bringing up DeShawn Snow’s dismissal from “Real Housewives of Atlanta” and the sell of Evelyn Lozada’s “You Are a Non F’N Factor…" shirts.
Although it didn’t turn into an honest-to-goodness Twitter beef, Tami was the first reality star to respond to Sherri.
“Sherri has some good points I’m not mad at her 4 having her opinion. AND THERE YOU GO…DISCUSSION!,” Tami tweeted before sticking up for her TV genre.
“I respect @SherriE Shepherd & want her 2know we R good ppl caught @ certain moments of R lives that aren’t always favorable,” she wrote.
Executive producer Shaunie O’Neal cautioned Sherri not to judge too quickly and give season 3 of “Basketball Wives,” which just premiered this past Monday, a chance.
“I think u should wait and watch the full season-some good things ahead,” Shaunie wrote.
